GIOGIE
conference will be held in Georgia for the fifth time. It has become
the traditional annual forum attracting over 250 delegates
from 15 countries every year. The conference is
officially supported by the Ministry of Energy of Georgia,
National oil company Georgian Oil and Georgian
International Oil Corporation (GIOC). Previous edition
of GIOGIE in 2005 was opened by the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab
Nogaideli. Senior level delegations from the US, Turkey,
Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are expected to attend the upcoming
conference.
As
BTC pipeline has just begun its operation and SCP pipeline is close
to the completion date, GIOGIE is gathering a new momentum. Caspian
oil and gas are being transported to the Western markets via Georgia
creating a new strategic alliance between many countries. Besides,
Georgia is exploring potential of becoming oil&gas producing
country - new offshore fields are being discovered.
